It was a usual morning, nothing quite extraordinary. The first walk of the morning, the first rush of the day. A look in the mirror, still dwelling on a dream. A look down at the sink, still dwelling on a dream. Believe what you may, but be careful, it may only last a second, however long that might be. It was a usual morning, nothing quite ordinary.
In ceramics, as in life, objects might feel slightly distorted or unreal. Broken pieces are a reflection of the harsh reality, things just happen out of their own nature, you can't control everything. It's okay, have yourself some spaghetti from the tap.
Spaghetti Tap was made during the residency RU (Residency Unlimited) and exhibited as a installation in the group exhibition “Out of the Blue”, at the Cuchifritos Gallery in New York in 2021.

Era uma manhã normal, nada de extraordinário. O primeiro caminhar daquela manhã, a primeira correria do dia. Uma olhada no espelho, ainda pensando no sonho daquela noite. Um olhar para a pia, ainda pensando naquele sonho. Acredite no que quiser, mas cuidado, pode ser que dure apenas um segundo, por mais longo que esse seja. Era uma manhã normal, nada de muito ordinário.
Na cerâmica, assim como na vida, os objetos podem parecer ligeiramente distorcidos ou irreais. Pedaços quebrados são um reflexo da dura realidade, as coisas simplesmente acontecem fora da sua natureza, você não pode controlar tudo. Está tudo bem, desfrute-se um pouco do espaguete da torneira.
“Spaghetti Tap” (Torneira de Espaguete) foi criada durante a residência na RU (Residency Unlimited) e foi exibida como uma instalação na exposição “Out of the Blue”, na Cuchifritos Gallery em Nova Iorque em 2021.

As in real life, things often find themselves in unexpected places and narratives unavoidably pile up, sitting aside as a mosaic of waking life.
"Setting Aside” is a compilation of ceramic pieces from other series, put together for this exhibition while at Residency Unlimited. One of my many intents is to bring elements of magic and delight into everyday objects and situations of the mundane while still projecting a sense of motion and life into solid sculptures. Each one of the objects has its own narrative, and they come together in a bigger scenery where they project a parallel dream-like world where ideally I would live in. The ceramic sculptures have a life of their own; we are merely spectators.

Assim como da vida real, frequentemente encontramos nossos pertences ou coisas em lugares inesperados, e as narrativas inevitavelmente se acumulam, formando um mosaico da vida vivida.
"Setting Aside” (Deixado de Lado) é uma compilação de peças de cerâmica reunidas de outras séries para esta exposição durante a Residency Unlimited. Uma das minhas intenções na cerâmica, é de trazer elementos de magia e deleite para objetos do cotidiano e situações do mundano, porém projetando ao mesmo tempo um certo movimento e vida às esculturas sólidas. Cada um dos objetos tem sua própria narrativa, e eles se unem em um cenário maior onde projetam um mundo paralelo de sonho onde eu idealmente viveria. As esculturas de cerâmica têm vida própria, somos apenas espectadores.
