oi!

I am a Brazilian artist, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, living and working in New York.

As an artist my sense of exploration is inevitably huge. Having dedicated myself a lot to printmaking techniques such as metal etching and lithography, I found myself fascinated by works that require extensive process. You create a lifetime with them, from their raw nature to their detailed depiction. This innate sense followed into my ceramic sculptures. With clay, one of my intents is to bring elements of magic and delight into everyday objects and situations of the mundane, while leaving subtle hints and provocation that are blinded by their own beauty. My artwork revolves a lot around subtlety.

At the same time, with my metal plates, which are mostly created when I am back home in Rio, it is all about being overwhelmed by the nature and at my most peaceful state. They are all I can think about when I am home, constantly surrounded by the perfection of flora and fauna diversity.

in the creative industry

I graduated from my Bachelor's degree in Communications/Industrial Design in PUC-Rio, Brazil, and acquired my MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York.

I apply my skills in design and illustration to my commercial work which tends to be hyper-detailed and craves playful forms and subjects. Coming from Brazil, improvisation and no limitation is key, hence my continued dedication to diverse methods and mediums, having worked with sculptures, installations, animations, prints, patterns, and more. Some clients include Farm-Rio, Sharpie, Adidas, MangoLab, Redley, IP Capital, with some works appearing on platforms such as Spotify and other social media.

While I have worked with many different companies for the past years, I dedicated myself consistently more to nonprofit works, whether through auctions of my own work or through applying my design skills.

For the past three years I worked as a Creative Director for the nonprofit Ameelio, which aims to build free communication technology to prisons across the US, in hope to fight mass incarceration and promote an actual rehabilitative environment. My work with them included being a creative problem solver: rebranding with Work&Co, rebuilding their website, illustrating their applications, creating mindful content for residents and even directing and producing a documentary short in Iowa to show the impact of our work. As intense as these years were, I understood even more how important it is to provide our skills to services like these, and more than that, how important that is for me as an individual in this world.
